Staying Motivated:
Read the Bible

Reading the Bible through in a year is often on our New Year's resolutions list. We start strong but soon lose the motivation to continue. I know, because this was my story for many years. I finally realized that I needed others to keep me motivated.

Reading the Bible with a group has several advantages. First, you have other people to explore the answers to your questions as you read a difficult passage. Because the Bible is an ancient text it can sometimes be confusing to understand. Having a safe place to ask your questions enables you to honestly explore the answers to your questions. The second advantage to reading in a group is that it provides you with the motivation to stick with it. Reading the Bible consistently is like any learned skill. It takes time to make it a habit. Once the habit is established your motivation to continue is greatly enhanced.
